I will try these potential fix options when the computer finishes this round of updates and respond with the results.  Thank you to all.

After waiting for the third attempt to finish, it says it downloaded, and I'm sure it did, because numerous things don't work, like Cortana, Edge, and the power and settings buttons.  I also cannot use the device troubleshooter, and the update troubleshooter tells me I still have updates to install.  I did install updates, and it still doesn't work.

This has happened with just about every major update that I've tried to load.  I don't think my computer can handle these updates. You said I can block them, but what about future ones?  Is there a way to keep this from happening in the future?  It never gives you the opportunity to reject them.  It just keeps reminding you over and over again.  I'm tired of this happening, as I lose so much work time.

I obviously need to uninstall this update, but do I actually have to do a recovery?  I don't want to lose my programs and settings again.  I have wasted so much time already, and it takes so long to reload all of my necessary programs.  Can I just go into updates and uninstall the latest ones?

Also, which update(s) do I need to block?  The three updates that I did firsts, are KB55237, KB4055994, and KB4057247.  The last one I did for version 1709 is KB4056892.

Thank you for the response, but I'm not having problems with it booting, it just isn't compatible with my computer.  Supposedly I should be able to stop it from updating, but I cannot find a way to do that.  jCurrently it is doing it again, and I can't stop it.  I will once again have to do a recovery.  It makes me so angry, because it will do it all over again after I do a recovery!  I need to know how to stop this from happening, and I don't know who to contact.    Do you have any suggestions?  I am pulling my hair out.

I would like to clarify what the computer says as it starts the update process...

"Your device needs the latest security updates

Microsoft cannot install important security updates on your PC until you install the latest Version of Windows 10.

To Ensure things go smoothly:

-Keep your PC plugged in.

Don't turn your PC off or close it.

We're doing our work behind the scenes.  Feel Free to keep working and we will let you know when everything is done."

When I try to "Hide an Update", the feature updates are not listed.  I also do not see any security updates to block.  This is why I am so frustrated.  I don't know what to do next.

When the update is offered, hide this update using the following troubleshooter tool:

Download Windows 10 Updates Troubleshooter Tool from Microsoft

http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F2...

Click on "Hide updates" option and you'll be able to hide desired update given in the list.

I tried that, but the update isn't listed, therefore I can't hide it.  I called Microsoft yesterday afternoon, and after 4 hours i was told that it was fixed.  An hour later it started all over again.  They are calling me back this afternoon to see how it worked.  I guess i'll be wasting another day waiting for Microsoft to clean up their mess.  They admitted that this seems to only happen on computers that got the free upgrade to Windows 10.   If that's the case, why aren't they fixing it?   I feel like they are putting the blame on me for accepting the upgrade!   I'd love to know how many hours of time they have wasted trying to fix people's computers. I wonder if they know how much time people like myself have wasted trying to have a useable computer since this mess started.  It would have been so much easier if they would have allowed us to rollback to our previous version.  I hope they learned a lesson with this mess.  If I am told that I have to wipe my drive and start over, i will be going out and buying a Mac!

Did they seriously accept that this is affecting all of the Systems with Free Upgrade?
This Statement is rubbish. The newest vulnerabilities discovered in Processor affects every machine, be it Android/Windows/iOS etc.
